A Personal Quest to Help My Daughter Became My Passion to Help Others
I was a chiropractor when my daughter was diagnosed with ADHD. Not liking any of the options the medical community presented to me, I looked for a non-invasive, drug-free approach to help my daughter. My research led me to Neurofeedback, and I was surprised to discover that it had four decades of university-level research supporting its efficacy.
My daughter was my first patient in the realm of neurofeedback.
My wife and I noticed positive results with her after only eight sessions, which I later learned was pretty average. My biggest question at that point was whether or not these changes would become permanent. It turns out that they are, if we train the brain to the point that new connections are sufficiently created and established (a phenomenon called neuroplasticity, which refers to the brain’s ability to reshape and remodel itself.)
After seeing how it changed my daughter’s life trajectory (and thus our family’s), it became my goal and practice focus to spread the word that there is a safe and effective alternative to help our children. I was thrilled to take part in finding a drug-free, non-invasive solution to the difficulties experienced with ADD/ADHD and other Learning Challenges. Our children are our future. We cannot expect to medicate them into a way of behaving or acting, and then expect them to shine and be who they are. If we look to the future 50 or 100 years, what are we creating? I decided to be part of a different path, and have been a full time neurofeedback doctor since 2011 offering brain maps, neurofeedback and related Brain Training and Brain Health therapies and procedures.
While my initial focus was helping children, I began to discover how Neurofeedback could help adolescents, adults and seniors.
In fact, half of our clients are adults. We are able to use Neurofeedback at Asheville Brain Training to help symptoms associated with:
- Chronic Fatigue
- Memory Loss
- Concussions / Traumatic Brain Injury
- Panic Attacks
I am a native Carolinian, and currently live in Columbus, NC with my wife Suelin, our two daughters, and lots-o-animals. (We even had a pet turkey for a while!)
